Overview

If you are planning to start an undergraduate degree in China in 2027, confirm your CSCA requirements against the exact programme you want to study. Record the required subjects, test language and score-submission deadline before choosing an exam sitting. Your university application deadline and your CSCA registration deadline belong on the same plan, but they are different dates.

CSCA stands for China Scholastic Competency Assessment. A useful preparation plan begins with an admissions requirement you can verify, followed by practice in the subjects that requirement calls for.

Start with the exact programme and intake

Begin with a small shortlist. For each option, write down the university, degree programme, teaching language, intake and funding route. A university name on its own is not enough to establish which requirements apply to you.

You can use UCAC's programme directory to explore study routes, then follow the university's official admissions link. Look for a guide that explicitly covers your intended intake year and international undergraduate applicants. A postgraduate notice or a previous year's guide may help you understand the university, but it does not confirm your 2027 undergraduate requirements.

Keep a requirement record for each choice

Use the following checklist when reading a university guide. Save the source link and the date you checked it, so you can revisit the same requirement before submitting your application.

CheckWhat to record
Programme identityUniversity, exact degree, teaching language and 2027 intake
Academic assessmentWhether CSCA is required and the subject combination
Test languageThe permitted or required language for each subject
ExemptionsThe precise exemption, eligible applicants and supporting proof
Submission timingWhen the score must reach the university and whether later submission is expressly allowed
Funding routeScholarship channel, its application deadline and any additional submission step

Treat an unanswered field as a question to resolve. Do not turn a missing instruction into an exemption or an assumed permission to submit scores later.

Read a real example without turning it into a national rule

Xiamen University's 2027 undergraduate guide, published on 10 October 2026, lists a CSCA score report among application documents. Its subject table requires mathematics; science, engineering, agriculture and medicine applicants must take at least one of physics and chemistry. It specifies Professional Chinese by academic category. Applicants to its Chinese Language programme with valid HSK Level 4 certification are exempt from Professional Chinese, rather than the whole CSCA assessment.

These are Xiamen University's published requirements. They do not establish the subject combination for every university or every applicant. Check programme-specific notes, including any exceptions, before registering.

The same guide illustrates why funding needs its own calendar:

Xiamen University application routePublished deadline
CSC Type B20 February 2027
Fujian provincial or XMU new-student scholarship30 April 2027
Self-funded31 May 2027

Applications in this table open on 1 December 2026. The dates apply to XMU's application system, in Beijing time, and do not cover CSC Type A. Use the relevant scholarship authority's instructions for that channel.

Confirm language requirements separately

Write down the degree's teaching language, the required language certificate and the CSCA test language as separate fields. An English-taught programme label does not answer every question about your academic assessment.

Likewise, do not assume that an HSK certificate removes all CSCA requirements. If a guide describes an exemption, record exactly which test it removes and which applicants qualify. When Chinese and English versions differ, check which version the university identifies as authoritative.

Work backwards from the score-submission deadline

Once the subject combination is clear, open the official CSCA website and match an available sitting to your application plan. Add registration, the relevant subject dates, results and university submission to your calendar.

Leave room for document checks and a correction if something is missing. A later test may fit a self-funded application while falling after a scholarship deadline. Do not assume a university will accept a score after its deadline unless its current instructions or admissions office explicitly confirm that arrangement.

If something is unclear, send one focused question to admissions: “For the 2027 intake of [programme], taught in [language], which CSCA subjects and test languages must I select, and by what date must you receive the score report?” Include your funding route and any exemption you believe may apply.

Turn confirmed requirements into your next study action

After confirming your subjects, open the CSCAPilot learning Agent to work on mathematics, physics and chemistry. Begin with a diagnostic practice set, identify the topics behind your mistakes, and focus the next study session on one of those topics. Return to timed practice when you are ready to check accuracy and pace together.

Professional Chinese, where required, needs its own preparation plan. The mathematics, physics and chemistry learning path does not replace that subject or the university's language-certificate requirements.

UCAC and CSCAPilot are connected Holalobe services: UCAC supports programme discovery and application planning; CSCAPilot supports independent academic preparation. Final admissions requirements remain with the university, and official exam registration takes place through CSCA.

CSCA Update October 2026 Exam Dates Registration and Results

CSCAPilot by Holalobe | Last checked 12 October 2026

Registration for the November 2026 CSCA sitting is scheduled for 15–21 October 2026, Beijing time. The exam takes place on 14–15 November. If you are preparing for a 2027 undergraduate application, confirm your required subjects and your university's score-submission deadline before booking.

This update brings together the current official registration information and the CSCA timetable published on 24 September 2026. The timetable covers November 2026 to June 2027.

Published exam dates

November 202614–15 November 2026
December 202619–20 December 2026
January 202723–24 January 2027
March 202713–14 March 2027
April 202724–25 April 2027
June 202726–27 June 2027

Each sitting runs over two days. Professional Chinese and mathematics are on the first day; physics and chemistry are on the second. Exam dates and registration windows are separate: check the official CSCA portal for the registration window of the sitting you choose.

November subject times

All times below are Beijing time, UTC+8.

SubjectDate in 2026Time
Professional Chinese14 November14:00–15:30
Mathematics14 November17:00–18:00
Physics15 November14:00–15:00
Chemistry15 November16:30–17:30

Other sittings use different start times. Follow the notice and admission ticket for your own session. If you are outside China, convert each subject's date and time to your local time before making arrangements.

Allow for the results window

From the November 2026 sitting onwards, CSCA says results will be released within 10 working days after the exam. Working days are not the same as calendar days.

Use this window when choosing a sitting, then leave additional time to check your report and submit the required documents. Ask the university whether it needs the score with the initial application or accepts a later submission. A test date that falls before an application deadline is not, by itself, enough to confirm that the result will arrive in time.

What to do before registration

First, confirm the precise subject combination for your programme and funding route. Check test language and any exemption rather than registering for every subject by default.

Next, review the current official instructions for identification, your photograph, fees, payment and the test mode you plan to use. Prepare what those instructions require before starting registration. Keep a copy of the official confirmation and record each booked subject in your calendar.

Finally, choose a study priority. In CSCAPilot's learning Agent, work through mathematics, physics and chemistry practice according to your confirmed requirements. Review the reason for each mistake, practise the weak topic, and then use another timed set to check whether the improvement holds under time pressure. If Professional Chinese is required, prepare for it separately.

Does CSCA registration complete my university application

No. Keep exam registration and university submission as separate tasks. A scholarship route may also require a separate submission. You can explore programme and funding options through UCAC by Holalobe, then verify the requirements on the university's own website.

Is CSCAPilot the official registration service

CSCAPilot is an independent preparation service by Holalobe. Book the official examination through CSCA. Treat CSCAPilot practice as preparation, rather than official exam registration or a guarantee of admission or a scholarship.
